What past attendees are saying:

“The Lead Brewer Program gave me a completely different perspective on RahrBSG’s products. Looking under the hood of the science and process helped me understand not just what goes into the ingredients, but why they perform the way they do. Just as valuable has been the community—we’re learning from each other, tasting each other’s beers, exchanging ideas, and building relationships that continue well beyond the classroom. Through these connections I am also the program’s first exchange brewer to the UK, this is an incredible opportunity to keep learning and bring new ideas back to my brewery.”

Derek Brown, Head Brewer, Town Hall Brewery

“The credibility of the two institutions combined and the resources available through that the program are of the highest value. When looking at the roster and the length of the course, you know you’re getting a very detailed look into all facets of the industry, but all the information is given in digestible way that makes it attainable.”

Paul Hedlund, 2024 Graduate

Asynchronous Learning with One Week On-Site
Coursework will start in mid-September. Participants will gain hands-on insights into how beer is brewed and understood across global traditions—learning German techniques from German brewers, British ale production from UK experts, and traditional approaches from Belgium and the Czech Republic.

The flexible, work-friendly structure features live lectures every two weeks (also available on-demand) to accommodate demanding brewery schedules.

Students will undertake a one-week residential workshop at the Rahr Technical Center in Shakopee, MN (tentatively in early 2027). Travel and accommodations not included in course fee.

Develop Brewing Excellence
One of the program’s standout features is its expert-led assessment process.

Coursework is reviewed by brewing professionals who provide detailed feedback and one-on-one support to guide real learning and growth. With a certificate issued by the University of Nottingham, this course offers more than just knowledge—it’s a credential that signifies a serious commitment to brewing excellence.
