Magic flows through Bottle Logic Brewery’s ‘Arcane Rituals’ barleywine, channeled by the deep, rich sweetness of Chevallier Heritage malt:

Arcane Rituals was first released in 2019, when it took gold in the Barleywine/Wheatwine category and went on to win Best of Show at the Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer (FoBAB).

Chevallier was first released a lot earlier than 2019: it was the dominant barley variety in England from 1820 to 1920. Revived as part of Crisp’s Heritage Malt line, Chevallier is available once again to give a historically intense malt backbone  (“Maris Otter turned up to 11,” say the folks at Crisp’s floor maltings) to thoroughly 21st-century barleywines, double IPAs, porters, and other full-flavored, cellar-worthy ales.
